You are not imagining it. More hair comes out in the shower between May and September.
Shedding is seasonal for everyone
Hair grows in cycles, and a share is always resting, waiting to fall. Resting-phase hair peaks in late summer, so a heavier shed in July and August is biology.
Fifty to a hundred hairs a day is normal. In summer expect the higher end.
What makes it worse here
Sweat sits on the scalp. In humidity it mixes with oil and dust, feeding the yeast behind dandruff. An inflamed scalp sheds more.
You wash less than you think. Many people avoid washing believing it causes hair fall. In summer the opposite is true.
Dust and pollution cling to the scalp and dry the shaft.
Hard water. Most tap water here is high in calcium, leaving a film that makes hair brittle.
What to do
Wash more, not less. Two to four times a week. Use anti-dandruff shampoo if flaking appears.
Use fingertips, not nails. Condition the lengths only. Rinse cool. Cover up in direct sun.
When it is not the season
Seasonal shedding settles in two to three months. See a doctor if your parting is widening, scalp shows at the crown, hair comes out in clumps, you have bald patches with clean edges, or shedding runs past three months.
Those point to pattern hair loss, thyroid problems or iron deficiency, and need a diagnosis rather than a different shampoo.
