The active ingredient is zinc pyrithione. It works by controlling Malassezia, the yeast that lives on almost everyone’s scalp and triggers the flaking, itching and irritation we call dandruff.

How to use it
Wet the hair thoroughly. Work a coin-sized amount into the scalp with your fingertips, not your nails.
Leave it on the scalp for three to five minutes. This is the step most people skip, and it is the one that matters. Zinc pyrithione needs contact time to work.
Rinse well. Use it three to four times a week until the flaking settles, then twice a week to keep it away.
Honest expectations
You should see less flaking within two weeks. Dandruff is managed, not cured, so if you stop entirely it will usually come back.
If there is no improvement after a month of correct use, or your scalp is bleeding, weeping or painful, see a doctor. That is not ordinary dandruff.
